Sochi Autodrom

Sochi is home to a modern race track that was built according to the plans of the engineers and architects of the TILKE office in Olpe. The scope of the plans included a Formula 1 course including the pit building, the main stand and other stands, a press centre, medical centre and team buildings.

The challenge

The concrete elements were to be produced near the racing circuit under the supervision of the system supplier.

The concrete elements were produced near Sochi in two production facilities at the same time. We made the moulds and production know-how available to our Russian partners and also continuously monitored production. We naturally also made our patented connection elements and system mounting components available.

A total of 12,000 metres of mobile concrete safety barriers were erected. Of these approximately 10 per cent are moved before and after each race to enable normal road traffic.

The production time was approximately 3 – 4 months, the barrier was erected in 3 – 4 weeks. The GEOBRUGG debris fence systems were produced in Switzerland at the works.

In the "ECO" business journal, the Swiss TV channel SRF reported on the project and accompanied Geobrugg from the start of production through to acceptance tests in Sochi. You can watch the broadcast here.
